How Long Does It Take To Get A Scam Website Shut Down?
from the quite-a-while,-apparently dept
Some “career” websites based in Canada that promised to help people get jobs in the oil industry or the government were apparently shut down recently after complaints that people paid money for information and services that were never received. That’s not so interesting, as there are plenty of stories about similar sites. However, it appears that it took over five years before these sites were shut down, since the first complaint came in — and one of them is already back online (though, it claims this time it’s legit). The article expresses some skepticism about the new site, noting that one of the problems with the earlier site was that it had fake testimonials — and the new one already has 80 testimonials, but the site owner insists they’re all real this time.

Somehow, this doesn’t surprise me.
But why can't they spell...
From the “Oily Career” website…
“PLEASE BE CAREFUL: I’m so utterly pissed off at this situation of oil industry job scams going on online that it’s unbelieviable! People have even pointed fingers at us in the past mistaking us to be involved in these rediculous scams! Please rest assured hat definitely is not the case regardless of what may have been said. All we do is simply sell information.”
Apparently, he’s “so pissed off” he talks like the stereotypical scammer-scumbag (typos et al)… Pointing fingers at you? Why am I not surprised…
