People Aren't Using Their Cameraphones A Lot, But Is That Important?
A new study says that just over a quarter of cameraphone users share their photos with friends, and just 5 percent print them out or keep them in operators’ storage services. Poor image quality and poor usability are hampering usage, but is the idea of a cameraphone — for anybody other than operators looking to generate messaging revenues — that people will use them all the time? Many of these cameraphone owners probably own standalone cameras as well, but don’t always carry them. The benefit of a cameraphone is in that it’s always accessible; the one time somebody has it when they’d otherwise have been without a camera offsets the poor image quality. Always having access to a camera is far more important that always actually using it.
