New CAN-SPAM Sport: Office-Dork Dunking
from the fun-for-the-whole-family dept
zanek writes “The CAN-SPAM Act supposedly protects you from spammers you don’t know. But what about the clowns in your office who force their political wisdom and/or sense of humor on you, along with the rest of their address book?” He’s obviously joking (and the full CAN SPAM pretty clearly shows that those types of emails aren’t covered by the act), but given some of the other bizarre lawsuits inspired by misreading CAN SPAM, it wouldn’t be surprising to see someone take annoying office mates on over this.

No Subject Given
A co-worker two cubicles over from me, keeps forwarding techdirt articles to my in-box. I have told him several times that I already read techdirt on my breaks and to stop forwarding them every time someone makes a reply that he doesn’t like (I hope he reads this).
Can these unwanted emails be covered by this spam act?

Yea, I read it. Don’t worry, I’ll stop sending you techdirt articles. I’ll also be sure to fill the ensuing void with /., betanews, digg, and wired news reports until you stop over and BEG me to only send you techdirt articles, you ungrateful toad.
Yours truely,
Al.
