Smart Mob Gathers On Gas Station
Over in Nebraska, an store manager at a Kabredlo’s Convenience store made a clerical error on the fuel retail system, and posted a premium gas price of 29 cents a gallon. The erroneous price remained for fewer than 45 minutes, and was ostensibly detected when unusualy long lines began forming at the station. I’d bet my bottom dollar that this was an occurrence of a smart mob, accelerated by the access of mobile phones. Many of the first people to happen across the station probably called family and friends to get in on the deal. Gas hasn’t been that cheap since 1955.
