Electronic Lifeguard Saves First Life

from the good-news dept

To be honest, it’s a bit surprising that some local community pools would shell out on an expensive electronic pool monitoring system, but it seems like a worthwhile decision after one of these systems helped save a drowning girl who blacked out in the deep end and sank to the bottom. If you didn’t know these systems existed (I certainly didn’t), they use a series of cameras to try to note activities associated with drowning and quickly set off an alarm for a lifeguard to respond — and the system worked perfectly. It’s nice to say that about technology every once in a while.
