Hong Kong Might Create Vague Anti-Spam Laws At Some Point… Maybe

from the this-might-matter-sometime-in-the-future,-possibly dept

There have been plenty of stories lately about various countries finally getting around to cracking down on spam, so it’s no surprise to see another story along those lines. However, it seems that Hong Kong’s plans to fight spam are exceedingly vague. Basically, they say they’ll come up with some sort of law at some point in the future that will ban some spam and some kinds of telemarketing… but not all kinds, because that would “interfere with normal business activity.” Of course, so would stopping other kinds of spam and telemarketing, but apparently some normal business activities are more protectable than others. Either way, why announce that you’re going to maybe come up with some anti-spam laws in the future? Why not just do it?
