What's So Special About WiFi In The Supermarket?

The obvious take on the story that UK supermarkets are now selling WiFi routers is to talk about just how mainstream WiFi has obviously become. However, a bigger question, in my mind, is why Linksys needed to make a “special” line of WiFi routers for supermarket shoppers. What’s wrong with the existing access points, and what’s so different about the supermarket model?
