South African Collusion In Mobile Pricing?

A consumer group in South Africa is complaining that prices are too high for mobile phone service. Of course, consumer groups complain about that kind of thing a lot, but in this case they’re suggesting collusion is to blame. A third mobile operator recently launched in the country, but it hasn’t done very much at all to lower prices. At three providers, you would think that some sort of competition would kick in — but so far, apparently, it hasn’t. That seems to be the basis of the complaint. Of course, proving collusion is usually pretty difficult, which is why they’re focusing most of the complaint on prices just being “too high.”
