NTP Still Owns Its Valuable, But Possibly Invalid, Patents
from the one-hurdle-out-of-the-way dept
In the ongoing saga of NTP’s patents, one of the side shows was the claims of Computer Leaseco (CLI) that NTP didn’t even have the rights to the patents in question — and that they really belonged to CLI. CLI, of course, was hoping to get some of the boatloads of cash companies were giving to NTP for their questionable patents. However, it appears that NTP gets to keep the patents for the time being, as a judge has tossed out CLI’s lawsuit. Of course, NTP still faces the possibility that its patents are not valid. However, they’re already rolling in all that cash from Nokia and RIM, so they probably don’t care that much any more.
