Automation Renamed Off-Peopling

from the no,-seriously... dept

Apparently one way to make a name for yourself in the consulting business is to take a concept that’s well known and obvious and call it something completely different to try to build up some buzz. That’s about the only way to explain the the idea of “off-peopling.” It’s a play on the term “offshoring.” Of course, back in the real world, off-peopling is better known as automation — and plenty of folks have been talking about how automation and offshoring are related for years. If only we’d come up with such a catchy name for it. Anyone have any new suggestions for what to call people we normally called Luddites?

leeches? murderers of the future? brain cancer? cave piners? dead weight of humanity?
How about;
“Those who would cut everyone off at the knees so they could maintain their power, ignorance, and perceived comfort levels, thereby dooming countless generations to misery and hardship that would have been allieviated by new technology”

too long, perhaps…i prefer “insolent maggots”

Offpeopling

Take care here. Samson is not a Luddite. He is just advising people that you should be looking over your shoulder because work as we know it is likely not to be around in forty years time.

Rather than saying that Automation should not occur, Samson is saying that we should be talking about it more so that we are all aware of how to prepare for this time and not get caught.

It also helps to have a nice catchy word too. Makes us remember it all the more.
