Microsoft Gets Into The IT Services Business

from the is-that-IBM-there? dept

Someone who didn’t leave a name submitted a link to a story suggesting that Microsoft is moving into IBM and HP territory by managing IT services for Energizer Holdings (yes, the bunny battery people). Many people probably would have expected this to happen eventually, but it seems to have been done unusually quietly. As the article notes, Microsoft has claimed they wouldn’t do this in the past — and they’re risking the anger of many of their partners by becoming competitive with their main offerings. Of course, on the positive side, forcing Microsoft employees to deal with managing a Microsoft IT installation outside of Redmond may make them recognize why so many companies have problems with certain Microsoft products.
