Sidekick Hacker Pleads Guilty

from the and-so-it-goes dept

The guy who had access to many T-Mobile Sidekick users’ data for many months — including emails from the Secret Service agent tracking him has now pleaded guilty to the crime. The original rumor as to why the Secret Service had kept the case so quiet was they were working out a plea bargain with him to get him to help them track down other malicious hackers — so the fact that he has entered a guilty plea isn’t all that surprising. Of course, the fact that the case showed a secret service agent retrieving his confidential emails using an insecure system, is another reason why they may have kept it quiet.
