Do Users Want Advanced Services Or Not?

It’s getting tough to tell what users really want out of their mobile phones these days. In the past couple of weeks there have been a few studies all saying that people don’t want advanced services on their mobile phones. They just want good coverage and low prices. In other words they want the phones to do what they bought them for: communicate with others. However, a new study suggests that people are more open to advanced services… though only if they’re explained well. The two studies aren’t completely contradictory. Basically, what people are saying is they don’t want advanced services for the sake of advanced services. A mobile phone is a communications device, first and foremost, and anything that takes away from that ability is seen as a bad thing. However, if more advanced services that fit in with that communications goal are added, without harming the basic features, they’ll be interested.
