Google Proves To Kidnappers That Australian Journalist Is No Spy

from the another-google-story... dept

It looks like Google has another “saved a life” story to go with their popular “man having heart attack, checks symptoms on Google, calls for help” story. This one, unfortunately, involves somewhat darker circumstances. An Australian journalist who was kidnapped in Iraq claims that he was let go after his captors Googled him to determine that he wasn’t a spy or working for a US contractor. All the more reason to make sure your Google reference check turns up useful information.
