RIM To Release Blackberry To Palm OS

Although we had already mentioned the important licensing of Blackberry software to PalmOne for bundled distribution in their smartphones and handhelds, a new product being launched by RIM will allow existing users of Palm OS devices to download and install an aftermarket Blackberry suite. The Blackberry-enabled devices will be able to access the same server-supported e-mail functions as other Blackberry devices. Techdirt has long said that the long-term strategy for RIM needs to skew towards licensing, and away from commoditized hardware.
