Lawyers Don't Get Quite As Much In The Microsoft Case

from the oh,-boo-hoo dept

Remember the lawyers who worked out the settlement deal with Microsoft in California? The ones who wanted $3,000 an hour for legal work, and $1,000 an hour for administrative work? All because they got you a stunning $16 for the copy of Windows that you overpaid for? Well, it looks like those lawyers will have to settle for a bit less. Rather than the $286 million, a judge has ruled that they’ll only get $112.5 million. Of course, that means more of the settlement money is available to anyone who bought Microsoft products in California and fills out the claim form. Amusingly, I just tested out the claim form and found that, at least on this computer, it didn’t work in Firefox, but worked just fine in IE.
