FCC Releases 3G Spectrum

Busy, Busy over at the FCC, where in addition to the story below, the FCC has released four 5 MHZ channels in the 1.9 to 2.2GHZ range for advanced wireless services (and 3G). Major wireless carriers voiced dissent on the decision, based on possible interference in the PCS band at 1.9GHZ. We welcome the release of the new spectrum, and eagerly await the solutions that will license and provide services over these channels. IPWireless, Flarion, WiMAX all are possible options, although there are currently no WiMAX standards ratified at the 1.9-2.2GHz band.
