Meet Pixo – The iPod OS Designer

from the Apple:-just-add-marketing dept

ITFacts writes “Stories about companies contributing to the success of Apple iPod seem to occupy at least one technology page in the newspapers lately. Perhaps it has to do with PortalPlayer’s IPO, the company provided chips for Taiwanese manufacturer that built the music players and placed Apple logo on them. San Francisco Chronicle tells the story of Pixo, the company behind the operating system on iPod.” With all these stories about other companies contributing to the iPod, it’s pretty impressive that the device was such a complete surprise when Apple first announced it. Still, it does suggest that true Apple model: outsource everything, and just add marketing.
