A Little Spam With Your Weekend Brunch?

from the timing-matters dept

At some point, when you’re getting so much spam, it’s really pretty difficult to tell if spammers favor a certain hour or certain day, but apparently one anti-spam company has gotten down in the muck to figure out that spammers seem to prefer the weekend brunch time slot for sending their spam. That’s right, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm is the time when you’re likely to be getting the most spam — except that anti-spam filters are now learning to adjust their filters based on time. So, messages sent out during those lazy weekends may be getting extra scrutiny from your favorite spam filter. Of course, these days, it seems like some spammers just keep churning out messages all day, every day, so I’m not sure how important a factor time of day really is in picking out the spam.
