Sports A Big Deal For Mobile Messaging Services

People have long realized for quite some time that sports was an obvious wireless data service that people would pay for. After all, they want up-to-date info on what’s happening with their favorite teams. However, over in China they’ve at least realized that the power of the mobile phone isn’t just as a broadcast mechanism, but to connect sports fans during sporting events. They’re also going even further, having set up an interactive soccer/football game for mobile phones that is then broadcast live on TV. Looks like a few more people are realizing that SMS marketing isn’t just about spamming users. Of course, Chinese texters need to be careful what they’re saying these days as the government wants to monitor messages to prevent “bad” stuff from getting through (as if that’s possible).
