Time For Wireless Search?

While there was a lot of misleading talk last week about a new Siemens application that some called a search engine, but was really just a way to browse faster. However, that doesn’t mean that a wireless search engine isn’t needed, and now everyone feels the need to speculate about who will provide wireless search. Of course, the names Google and Yahoo are trotted out as the most likely providers. Basically, they’re expected to start offering pages that are more optimized for smaller screens and lower data rates. Over time, this should become less of a concern. Already, Google pages are fairly sparse. They don’t need all that much time to load, and display pretty well on most mobile devices. As wireless data bandwidth improves, this should become less of an issue.
