Text Messages Go To Court

This doesn’t seem all that surprising, but here’s an AP piece noting that text messages subpoenaed from wireless carriers are being used in various court cases as evidence. Considering the fact that emails and instant messages are being used increasingly as well, it was only a matter of time before text messages were discovered. What’s more interesting, though, is the legal question of who really owns the text message – is it the sender and/or the receiver – or is it really the carrier?
