Automating The Hiring Manager

Computerized job screening technology has been popular in the casino and hotel industry for some time, but now it appears that many more retail outlets are making all job applicants fill out a computer questionnaire first, which does a first pass filter on whether or not they’re worth pursuing. Some stores are even setting up kiosks in the store for job applicants – and if a good one comes by, they may page the manager to grab them before they can get out the door. Meanwhile, some other stores are relying on the technology even after they’ve hired people to help track their progress and monitor their work. Now all we need is the computer to decide who should be fired (and maybe have it send an email or SMS with the bad news) and people really will be working for the machine…
