Telemarketers Searching For Do Not Call Loopholes

from the uh...-we're-a-charity? dept

This was predicted, but it appears that less-than-honest telemarketers are getting bolder in their attempts to pretend they qualify for the various loophole exemptions to not have to comply with the federal “Do Not Call” list. Among the things they do is say that they’re a charitable or political organization (both of which are exempt), and then start pitching financial services that are clearly not charitable or political. Expect these calls to become even more common if enforcement from the FTC is slow.
