Smart Home Of The Future Designed For Elderly

from the useful-for-how-long? dept

The BBC has an article about yet another “smart home of the future” with the focus here being on building technology to help care for the elderly. Some of it seems pretty cool (whether for the elderly or not), but much of it seems to be based on the idea that the elderly people using the smart home of the future will have little to no computer experience. While that may be true for some older users today, you have to wonder how long that will be true. Especially in developed countries (where these things are more likely), more and more people joining the ranks of the elderly will have some basic computing experience.
