Mobile Phone Applications To Make Your Life Easier

The NY Times is looking at how many different people are working on mobile phone applications to better serve them, such as connecting them to a home automation system, so you can turn on the air conditioner as you’re on your way home or make sure you remembered to turn out the lights. Others are finally working on an application that tries (but doesn’t always succeed) to adjust the volume of your ringer based on where you are. Thus, when you’re at the movie theater, your phone would automatically know to shut up. Of course, most of these applications are fairly early stage applications that people are just messing around with. However, it’s out of this sort of early tinkering that the useful (and as much as I hate to use the phrase) “killer apps” appear.
