Sony Betting Heavily On WiFi For Game Devices

It appears that Sony is betting very heavily on WiFi for both their PSP portable gaming device and their next generation PS3 gaming console. Not much detail in the article, but it sounds like they’re jumping on the WiFi train in a big way, and even plan to let the two different devices communicate to tie them closer to each other – beyond just using the WiFi to allow devices to connect to the internet or to other of the same gaming machines nearby. Of course, considering the changing wireless networks and standards, you wonder if it wouldn’t make more sense to offer one, but also have the option of being able to upgrade the wireless connectivity over time.
