Getting A Full Size Browser Into A Phone Screen
Guy Kewney has written up a glowing review of Picsel’s browser technology for mobile phones saying that it really does work in creating a way to view “full desktop quality content” on mobile phones. The technology is now being implemented on the BREW platform, and is already available on just about every mobile platform: Linux, Symbian (UIQ and Series 60), Palm, MicroITRON and the Microsoft. It can apparently take just about any kind of desktop content (the article lists Flash, video, Microsoft Office files and pdf files), and place it on a mobile screen. The unique element is that the system makes it quite easy to zoom into a document and view it in much more detail. It also lets the user view multiple files at once, and cut and paste between them.
