EarthLink Becoming A Wireless Carrier

This shouldn’t be a huge surprise, of course, but Earthlink is making a sideways step into the wireless world in an attempt to become a wireless carrier. They’re going to start offering mobile phone service on Blackberry devices. This makes sense, considering that they’re already supplying email to the Blackberry, and it’s an easy extension. Still, it highlights yet another area where MVNOs may suddenly become popular. Why shouldn’t your ISP also provide you with mobile phone service – especially when you’re increasingly looking to connect to the internet from anywhere on any device? Expect to see more creative bundling showing up as well.
