Still Portability Problems, But Getting Better
It’s only been about four months since number portability was put in place, and finally it appears that carriers are getting the hang of it. At least that’s the story in this Chicago Tribune article. Still, they report that 15% of changes encounter “snags”. 15% still sounds pretty damn high for four months into the process, though, at least the trend is in the right direction.

As someone who works in wireless, and does portability requests just about daily: Most snags are the cutomers fault. Things like forgotten PINS, or calling to cancel with the soon to be old provider. People are best served to bring in a copy of their old bill and give it up to 14 days.
