Anti-Spyware Bill Introduced
from the now,-that-makes-sense dept
From the same folks who brought you CAN-SPAM (the useless pro-spam bill), come SPYBLOCK (Software Principles Yielding Better Levels of Consumer Knowledge), the bill designed to stop spyware. It looks like the bill targets the right thing: making it illegal to sneak the approval process by in the very fine print of an unreadable license agreement. Who knows if the bill will actually get anywhere, but this seems a lot more worthwhile than the CAN-SPAM act. Of course, the real question I have is whose job is it to come up with the names of these bills? CAN-SPAM? SPYBLOCK? Do they just have one person sitting around coming up with acronyms that work?
