The Return Of E-Commerce

from the did-it-ever-really-go-away? dept

It seems like every few months another one of these studies comes out and everyone gets all excited over the news that people are actually buying stuff online. Haven’t we figured this out already? People are getting more comfortable with online shopping, and (surprise, surprise) they’re buying. Once again, though, it looks like many of the predictions of 1998-1999 have come true – but too late for many of the companies that jumped on the early bandwagon. Of course, the nice thing about the newer e-commerce success stories are that they didn’t go around and raise million and millions of dollars and throw it away on a silly ad campaign. Instead, they seem to be building solid online retail businesses without too much fanfare.
