Good Technology Releases Solution For PocketPC
Good Technology, a rival to RIM in the corporate e-mail business, has announced that their Goodlink mobile mail product will now work on all connected PocketPC devices, the MSFT handheld OS. Recall that we’ve discussed RIM’s strategy of relying less on hardware, and more on software licensing, well, Good fully abandoned their (comparatively modest) hardware ambitions, and is now strictly a software play. This software license focus allows them to target multiple platforms and devices. My take on this is that it was a very obvious step for Good. What would be more impressive would have been a deal with MSFT to license the Good solution and factory-install it on the devices, OR a deal with carriers to install it on connected PocketPC devices prior to customer delivery. Of course, the Good bus dev guys must be working on something…
