Onwards To 4G

Sure, sure, sure. Companies are still struggling to figure out how exactly they’re going to get to 3G offerings (and whether or not they’ll get people to pay), but that’s no reason to slow down. Companies like Samsung are pushing forward with plans to figure out how to move past 3G on to 4G. While they don’t expect anyone to launch a 4G network until at least 2007 (which might be a bit optimistic), they’re excited about the potential for wide-area wireless technology that could offer data rates over 100 Mbps. Of course, some might say we’re better off focusing on getting current cellular networks to work better, but people are always going to be looking to the future. Of course, as with most of these things, the estimates are probably a bit optimistic in terms of timing and speeds.
