PalmOne Open To Non-Palm OS

Just recently, someone I know who is deeply involved in the mobile data industry predicted that Symbian was going to be very difficult to beat in the wireless OS space, and noted that PalmOS was becoming something of a footnote. It’s almost entirely ignored in Europe, and, despite the Treo 600’s success as a device, that wasn’t enough. We talked about it a bit, and began to wonder whether or not PalmOne (the hardware side) would consider ditching PalmSource (the OS side) for something like Symbian. Well, apparently it wasn’t such a crazy idea as PalmOne now admits they’re open to the idea – though, it doesn’t sound like they have any immediate plans to go that route.
