Lots Of Online Holiday Shopping… At Work

from the lunchtime-in-the-cubicle dept

There have been a ton of studies showing that lots of people did their holiday shopping online this year. However, the latest study has one other interesting factoid: the peak times for online shopping were during lunch times. In other words, people did their holiday online shopping at work during their lunch hour. Advertisers are beginning to notice this trend as well, and have been looking to buy targeted ads during the lunch time traffic rush. The article also mentions that some web filtering technologies for the workplace are now starting to wise up to the fact that some personal surfing from the office isn’t such a bad idea, and will let employers “open up” access to shopping sites for some period of the day to keep them at their desk, rather than having them need to run out and do their shopping.
