Motorola's Taking On Predictive Texting

Everyone’s trying to make text messaging easier. While many people know about Tegic’s T9 it sounds like competitors are showing up all over the place. DigitWireless is still pushing their (pretty cool) “hills and valleys” concept for adding a full keyboard to a typical mobile phone keypad – but that needs to wait until the handset guys buy into it. Now Motorola has decided to step up with their own T9 competitor called iTAP. It’s a predictive text entry system that not only tries to guess words, but entire sentences based on what you’re writing. They also claim that it has intelligence to learn from what you write, so that it improves over time. How long until the patent battle begins over predictive texting?
