WiFi Train Project Moving Forward
We’ve written plenty of stories about WiFi on trains, but this story about GNER in the UK beginning trials of their WiFi trains includes some more details about backhaul. Most of it is provided by satellite, but they get creative when the train goes through tunnels where satellite signals don’t reach. Instead of just telling passengers “too bad,” they switch to a cellular link – which they admit will be slower, but at least a connection will still work.
