File Sharing Networks Would Like The Government To Hear Their Side
from the it's-about-time dept
Last week, a group of Senators were convinced by the entertainment industry’s FUD to send off a nasty letter to various P2P companies, blaming them for child pornography. The P2P companies are fighting back this week and asking for a chance to meet with the Senators to educate them on how the internet and P2P works, so that (maybe, just maybe) they’ll understand the difference between a network and what happens on the network. Considering that the file sharing networks are simply a part of the internet, and there’s a lot more child porn on the internet as a whole, why didn’t these Senators also send nasty letters to all the companies who run various parts of the internet’s infrastructure? Maybe they should just shut down the internet altogether, since it’s (gasp!) possible to use it for “bad stuff.”

Be very careful what you wish for.
