The Latest In Lie Detecting

from the what-are-you-thinking? dept

Everybody knows that the old polygraph test is a joke that isn’t particularly accurate. So, the next question is whether or not it’s possible to build a system that can actually catch people telling a lie? It looks like there are a lot of different projects underway to invent the next generation of lie detector. Researchers are trying out all different methods, many of them sponsored by the Department of Defense. There are certainly a number of ethical issues with “looking into someone’s mind”, but the researchers appear to have come to terms with those issues (or, perhaps we should test them on their own machines to see how they feel on that issue…).

You seem to imply this would be bad thing?
Could you imagine what the world would be like if everyone knew when someone was not telling the truth or even if everyone could read every one elses mind? What would be the result utopia or dystopia? chaos? tranquility?

purchase

hello I would like to know how I would be able to purchase a polygraph machine because I would like to Help ppeople from themselves by using it. If some people Like AA used a polygraph test to the individual with the drink problem then he would be assisting him because an alcoholic lies to him or herself so If I could set up a group called liars anonymous or something like that and the only person tha twould know the truth of the test would be the person taking the test and the n the person would be able to address it. they try all these programs to help peope and they make them worse this would solve peoples problems.
