Number Portability Costs $2.62 A Month?
A think tank has come out with a report saying that wireless number portability costs consumers $2.62/month and adds that if there really was a market for it, the wireless carriers would have been offering it already. I guess they’re ignoring study after study after study showing that people are absolutely drooling over the idea of ditching their current carrier when number portability is available (getting closer…). There’s very little explanation of how these “costs” were actually determined, so they could be questioned – but it does give the carriers a response to use when Chuck Schumer comes along again (and he will) and accuses them of profiting off of number portability.
