Controlling A Concert Via Wireless
CNN goes backstage at an R.E.M. concert and notices just how much technology is used in putting on the show. A big part of that is the wireless connection they use. Originally set up to do small things, they’ve found it to be useful in all sorts of unexpected ways. Everyone on the crew uses it to stay in touch with friends and family, but it’s become a major part of how they control everything during the show. The wireless connection lets the sound engineer wander the concert venue with a Tablet PC, and tap into the soundboard remotely from anywhere and make adjustments on the fly.
