Text Messaging Is Big Business For Chinese Portals
Over in China, it appears that text messaging is giving a big boost to online portals. While the two might not seem to be directly connected, it appears that many people use the portal sites to send text messages to mobile phones. Nearly one-tenth of all messages originate from the portals. In fact, some analysts say this is why American portals like Yahoo have struggled in China – since they didn’t realize the wide adoption of text messaging and how to tie it into their offering.
