Fastmobile Slips Their PTT In The Backdoor

While Nextel and Verizon Wireless duke it out in the front yard, a stealthy competitor has entered the PTT house through the backdoor.Fastmobile has just struck a deal with American Connections to retail the Fastmobile PTT solution in the USA. American Connections is the third largest independent wireless service retailer in the U.S. The Fastmobile PTT solution uses the network as a dumb data pipe, where Fastmobile manages the delivery of PTT calls over GPRS. The client (handset program) that does the PTT is downloadable, and will be available on an increasing number of handsets. We covered Fastmobile’s similar announcement in the UK last week.
