American Public Responds To RIAA Lawsuits By Sharing More Music

from the whoops dept

Not really a surprise, but the RIAA’s sue-them-into-submission strategy continues to backfire in almost every possible way. Instead of scaring the file sharing public into shutting down their file sharing applications, it appears it’s acting as something of an advertisement for file sharing. The latest reports suggest that more people were sharing more files this week after the lawsuits were announced. The article says it’s because of the publicity, but I’d bet a lot of it has to do with people being back in school. All those university kids have access now – and despite whatever “copyright infringement is bad” classes they had to take, those kids are going to be sharing files.

File sharing

The RIAA thinks it can end file sharing with its lawsuits? They are insane! This technology has only just begun!Suing people is not going to make ANYONE buy a cd that can be scratched or lost or stolen when people can just download the same album and not worry if their Mp3 player gets lost or stolen, they have the Mp3z on their computers and they’ll just burn a new cd or get another mp3 player and they are back listening again.Nothing really TO loose….Honestly, even if they block the current services,20 new ones with blocking technology will come.RIAA you are sunk- Make a Legal Napster with every song available or face the fact ,YOU ARE OVER!

Re: File sharing

Uh, your comment seems to suggest that no one should ever buy any music. How the heck are you gonna get your Britney Spears ‘MP3z’ if no one has purchased the album? (please insert ’50-cent’ or some other equally as packaged and pathetic performer as required)

Your attitude is as bad as the RIAA’s, or perhaps worse. How do you expect people to write music when they’re too busy flippin’ burgers because no one bought their music? Idiot. SOMEONE has to buy the music or, ideally in a world where the CDs were just freebie ads for the live concerts we pay to see, someone still has to spend the money to go to those concerts.

Either way, the band needs to get their bread money, or they’ll not be able to perform full-time, and you have no more ‘MP3zzzz’ because your favourite performers have real jobs instead.

Thanks for showing us the extreme other side of the argument, so that we know when we’ve gone too far. You’re now the RMS of the music world, a foil against whcih we all can compare ourselves and know we’re not talking crazy yet.

(I can’t believe I spent this much time respondong to anyone who uses wanna-be-gangsta-speak witht he ‘z’ and all)

MP3 Thieves!

MP3 THIEVES ARE RUININ THE INDUSTRY BECAUSE ALL THESE LITTLE KIDS ARE GETTING HARD WORK FOR FREE AND TREAT IT LIKE ITS THE FLAVOR OF THE WEEK BECAUSE THERE GETTING IT FOR FREE. THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH GOES INTO IT. I’M NOT SAYIN ARTIST SHOULD BE WORSHIPED OR IDOLIZED. THE ONLY ONE THAT SHOULD BE IDOLIZED IS GOD. BUT ARTIST SHOULD BE RESPECTED AS HARD WORKING BUSINESS TYPE PEOPLE. THAT LACK OF APPRECIATION IS KILLING THE ARTISTRY. ARTISTS ARE BEING FORCED TO COME OUT WITH MORE FREQUENTLY BECAUSE THEIR MATERIAL IS BEING DISPOSED OF SO QUICKLY BECAUSE PEOPLE DON’T APPRECIATE IT AS MUCH. THIS MEANS THERE SPENDING LESS TIME ON CREATING WHICH LEADS TO BORING RECORDINGS. SINCE MP3’S TOOK OVER, A NUMBER OF GREAT ARTIST SOLD OUT THEIR CREATIVITY TO FEED THIS DISPOSABLE MARKET. THAT MEAN WE MISSED OUT ON GREAT RECORDINGS. IT WILL BE VERY HARD FOR TRUE ARTISTS TO DEVELOP UNDER THIS SOCIETY THAT DOWNLOADS HARD WORK FOR FREE. I want to hear creative things. Their inspiring to me. I haven’t been inspired by a recording since MP3’s. That why I support the R.I.A.A’s actions to against you! And I’ll support your prosecution. If you do have stolen music on your hard drive you will be prosecuted.
