Amazon Goes After Email Spoofers

from the good-for-them! dept

Last year when I got hit with having my email address spoofed in spam messages, lots of people told me that I should go after whoever was responsible and take them to court. Unfortunately, that required time and resources beyond what I was willing to deal with. However, big companies have that kind of time and resources readily available. Amazon.com has announced that it’s going after 11 spammers for spoofing email addresses. In the case of Amazon, of course, it’s a bigger deal, because the spoofers are trying to convince recipients that their email is legitimately from Amazon. In my case, it was just a random hit. Still, hopefully lawsuits like this one will put an end to some of the worst spoofing abuses.
