Canadian Wireless Carriers Team On WiFi Roaming
Now this strategy might make a little more sense. Instead of leaving each wireless carrier to do their own WiFi buildout (or pretend to do so on the backs of Wayport), four Canadian wireless carriers, Microcell Telecommunications, Rogers Wireless, Telus Mobility and Bell Mobility have agreed to come up with a system to let customer roam between each of their WiFi networks. The plan is also to allow roaming between cellular and WiFi networks, though that’s a challenge of a different sort. Sooner or later, similar arrangements will start showing up elsewhere.
