PowerPoint As An Artistic Medium
from the clicking-heads dept
Someone had told me about musician David Byrne’s obsession with PowerPoint last week, but I was still a bit surprised to see him write a whole article about the conversion that turned him into using PowerPoint as an artistic medium. He started out using it as a joke, to go along with public readings about his book making fun of sales presentations. However, the more he used it, the more he realized what he could do with it, beyond just typical presentations. Now, his latest project, which will come out as a book and DVD will include some “artistic” PowerPoint presentations in the materials. Apparently, a counter argument against PowerPoint will be published tomorrow. As we’ve discussed many times before, PowerPoint is just a tool. Sure, some people use it dreadfully, but that doesn’t mean the tool is bad.
