UK Mobile Firms Prefer Misleading To Friendly

from the different-strategies dept

Yesterday, we had an article saying that US mobile carriers were trying to reshape their image into being friendlier, and more concerned about customer service. This is as a result of new number portability rules, and the fear that all of their customers are going to start jumping ship to other carriers. Apparently, over in the UK, they’re going with a different strategy. Customer service employees of UK mobile phone providers have been misleading anyone who calls and asks about changing carriers. Only one-third of a series of “secret shopper” calls on the issue of number portability were answered correctly. The only good news out of the study is that things aren’t as bad as they were a few years ago.
