Advertising Group Suggests Limits On Pop Ups

from the oh,-now-you-realize dept

The IAB in the UK is considering issuing “guidelines” to lessen the number of intrusive ads that surfers see on any particular site. Some smaller sites are protesting, since they like to shove as many intrusive ads as possible in front of people. As the article points out, when a site is putting up so many intrusive ads, it doesn’t actually do them any good, because most people leave pretty quickly and never come back. It’s too bad that the sites themselves don’t realize this, and actually have to be scolded by an advertising bureau.
